Allentown, PA (March 5, 2010) – Scott B. Allinson, Member of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino, the Pennsylvania office of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., was selected as the first Solicitor for the Northampton County Gaming Revenue and Economic Redevelopment Authority. Allinson will provide legal services and guidance to the board as it accomplishes the goals set forth in the Commonwealth’s Gaming Act.
The Northampton County Gaming Revenue and Economic Development Authority is responsible for the distribution of funds created by the Gaming Act as funded by taxes paid by the Sands Casino and Resort project in Bethlehem, PA. The Authority is made up of members representing the City of Bethlehem, the five municipalities contiguous to Bethlehem and three at-large seats. Members’ terms are staggered from one to five years. The intent of the committee is to ensure the revenue to address impact from the casino is distributed.
“This new Authority has tremendous responsibility to oversee the distribution of these funds. They will ensure the funds are invested into our communities to improve the local economy and minimize the impact of the Casino’s operation on these communities. I am honored to have been selected as Solicitor for the Authority,” stated Allinson.
Allinson specializes in economic development law, commercial litigation, and business law, with special emphasis on construction law, creditors’ rights law, corporate and partnership governance, and general and complex commercial litigation.
Allinson’s construction practice focuses on litigation, mechanic’s lien claims, construction defects, payment bond claims, general and subcontractor representation, and specialized litigation, arbitration and mediation concerning public construction projects.
Allinson is active in politics and serves on a variety of boards and committees for various charitable, economic and community organizations. He serves as solicitor to Lehigh’s Economic Advancement Project, Northampton County New Jobs Corporation, the Northeastern Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation, and the Lehigh County Industrial Development Authority. Allinson serves on the Board of Directors of the Lehigh County General Purpose Authority and is a member of the President’s Council of DeSales University.
Allinson earned his J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Lehigh University. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
