Allentown, PA (February 9, 2010) – Jeffrey S. Stewart, Member of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino, the Pennsylvania office of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., will participate in the Lehigh Valley Society for Human Resource Management discussion entitled “Ask the Legal Experts” at their breakfast meeting on February 9, 2010. Stewart will be one of three “expert” attorneys, addressing members’ pressing employment-related legal questions. The discussion will touch upon topics including recent legislation, employee drug testing, employee privacy, and military leave issues.
The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management exists to promote the highest level of professionalism in Human Resource Management. SHRM offers members professional development opportunities, a chance to share Chapter resources with the communities served, and promotes and fosters awareness of the role of Human Resource Management in creating high performance organizations.
Stewart is a member of the firm and focuses his practice on labor and employment law.
Stewart’s labor law practice focuses on representing management and has included trying cases before the National Labor Relations Board and the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board. He has handled numerous unfair labor practice charges, unit clarification hearings and grievance arbitrations. He counsels employers in union avoidance and has helped his clients successfully defeat union representation elections. Jeff also serves as lead negotiator for a number of his clients during collective bargaining. Additionally, Jeff advises his clients in all respects regarding strikes, lockouts, mass picketing, etc. In addition to his private-sector clients, Jeff also represents a number of municipalities with respect to their labor unions.
Stewart’s employment law practice focuses on representing management. In addition to representing clients before the PHRC, EEOC and the courts, he counsels clients in such matters as non-compete agreements, sexual harassment investigations, FLSA compliance, unemployment compensation, and drafting employment policies and handbooks.
Stewart has taught numerous seminars on labor and employment law in the Lehigh Valley as well as teaching Labor & Employment Law courses for DeSales University and Moravian College.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management, where he also serves as the Chair of its Legislative Committee.
Stewart earned his J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University, and his B.A. from Syracuse University.
