Lehigh Valley, Pa. -- Steven Hoffman and George Hlavac of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino’s Labor and Employment Department represented the City of Allentown and Mayor Ed Pawlowski in a federal lawsuit brought by the City’s former Superintendent of Recreation, Thomas Smith. Mr. Smith brought causes of action for violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and political discrimination in violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution as a result of the termination of his employment with the City. On March 9, 2009, Judge Mitchell S. Goldberg of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania granted the City and Mayor Pawlowski’s Motion for Summary Judgment and dismissed Mr. Smith’s case.
