Lehigh Valley, Pa. -- On April 15, 2009, the Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino Labor and Employment Department will hold a free, informational seminar entitled, “The So-Called Employee Free Choice Act: What it means to your organization.” Attorneys George C. Hlavac and Jeffrey S. Stewart will explain the existing framework for union organizing and how the EFCA, if enacted, will dramatically shift the balance of power to organized labor. They will also provide an overview of how the EFCA will affect employers and employees if enacted in its current form, including the proposed requirement to submit terms and conditions of employment to mandatory, binding arbitration.  Employers and business owners will also be advised regarding what they should be doing now to protect their businesses.  At the conclusion of the presentation, Attorney Scott B. Allinson will moderate a question and answer session. The seminar will be held at the Candlelight Reception & Conference Center in Bethlehem, Pa., from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Afterward, cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres will be served from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. For more information, please see the attached Invitation.
